In a country as diverse as America, accents and colloquialisms vary in every state you visit.
A new study conducted by Stacker set out to find the most interesting local slang words from every state.
The slang word that the study chose for Colorado is "gaper."
According to Stacker:
"Colorado natives take their skiing very seriously—so seriously that they've coined a negative term for those who don't. A gaper (or guaranteed accident prone on every run) is an inexperienced or new skier or snowboarder."
To find common slang words in each state, Stacker took data from various sources.
But that's far from the only interesting slang words that Coloradans use in everyday speech.
According to 303 Magazine, these are slang words and terms every Coloradan should know:
- LoDo
- 303
- Dispense
- Colorado Kool-Aid
- 5280
- 14er
- Rockpile
- PFM
- Mousetrap
- FoCo
- RiNo
- Casa Bonita
- SoBro
- Flatlanders
