Quarterback Sean Mannion is expected to make a return to the Minnesota Vikings after he was released from the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday (September 1)

According to the official Vikings website, they signed Mannion to their practice squad on Thursday (September 2).

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer was asked if he was comfortable with rookie Kellen Mond as the backup quarterback to Kirk Cousins and he responded saying, "um, right now, we'll see what happens in the next few days," Fansided reported.

Mannion was first drafted in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams and spent his first four seasons with the team. In April of 2019, Mannion signed with the Minnesota Vikings becoming the backup quarterback to Cousins. Mannion made his Vikings QB debut against the Chicago Bears in week 17. He re-signed with the team in March of 2020 but left to sign with the Seahawks in July of 2021.

The Minnesota Vikings tweeted Thursday morning (September 2) confirming the singing of Mannion. The tweet stated:

"The #Vikings have signed QB Sean Mannion to the practice squad."

Vikings fans responded to the tweet with mixed emotions. Some say they would have preferred signing different players and others think signing Mannion was a great option for the team.
