By Hayden Brooks
September 7, 2021
Darren Criss is prepping for the holiday season with A Very Darren Crissmas.
On Tuesday (September 7), the singer/actor announced that his debut holiday album is set for release on October 8 via Decca Records. The collection, which has been described as a "joyous genre-bending collection," per a press release, will feature appearances by Adam Lambert ("Everybody’s Waitin' For The Man With the Bag"), Evan Rachel Wood ("Somewhere in My Memory") and Lainey Wilson ("Drunk on Christmas").
Produced by Ron Fair and recorded in 2020 at Nashville's Faircraft Studios with a roster of local musicians, the LP will be led by the first single, "Happy Holidays / The Holiday Season." The album will also be available for pre-order beginning tomorrow.
"I always knew that if I ever made a Christmas album, it would have to be much more than just a collection of songs you already knew," Criss said during the album's announcement. "I'd want it to be a journey through songs that not only had a personal significance to my life, but also a unique introduction to songs folks had never heard before, and a re-introduction to a few they might think they know- but have never considered differently. Every eclectic choice led this album to feel astutely true to its namesake: a very, indisputably, 'me' Christmas."
