Milwaukee is one of five communities that received a $25,000 Bark for Your Park grant from PetSafe Brand.

According to FOX 6, the new dog park will be located between Plankinton Avenue and the Milwaukee River at Clybourn Street.

To bring the new dog park to Milwaukee, project organizers are hoping to raise $750,000 through donations and sponsorships. There are multiple levels of donation amounts on the dog parks website. The amounts start at $10 and up to $2,500. The money raised from the donations will go towards the pre-development, construction, maintenance and operations of the downtown dog park.

The website states that the dog park will be a "12,000 square foot dog run with a publicly accessible Riverwalk extension." The park will include:

  • Separated small and large dog areas
  • Synthetic turf with irrigation for convenient maintenance
  • Security lighting
  • Decorative fencing
  • Water stations
  • Access & expansion of Riverwalk system
  • Agility stations
  • Public art
  • Prominent donor recognition opportunities

The website also states that their goal "is to provide a community asset and a much-needed amenity for the growing cohort of dog owners, while promoting livability, and enhancing key gateways into downtown Milwaukee."
