It's always encouraged to divulge in a little dessert after you finish a meal, but deciding what kind of delicious treat you want is the hard part.

Instead of going to the store and grabbing a chocolate bar, maybe try something more elaborate, like your state's signature dessert. Luckily, if you don't know your state's signature dessert, Stacker sought to find each state's most high-demand dessert, and the results may surprise you.

Every state is known for a specific food, but a state-specific dessert makes everything sweeter.

"According to Technomic, 41% of consumers say that they enjoy dessert at least once per week after a meal. And if you’re traveling the country, there’s no better way to enhance your knowledge of a region than through its native foods—including its signature desserts," the report wrote.

To find each state's signature dessert, Stacker looked through "regional newspapers, blogs, and homemade recipe collections" to make the perfect list.

So, what is Missouri's signature dessert?

An ice cream cone.

Here is what the report had to say about Missouri's ice cream cones:

"The ice cream cone was originally introduced during the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. Fittingly, Missouri decided to make the ice cream cone the official state dessert in 2008."
