Fall officially starts on September 22, so it’s time to plan your favorite seasonal activities.

Whether that means kicking off the season with pumpkin spice lattes, busting out a cozy sweater and snuggling in for a movie night or admiring the changing leaves, there’s tons of stuff to keep you busy.

And if you’re looking to decorate or carve pumpkins, Patch has you covered. The community news hub tracked down popular pumpkin patches in the Chicago Heights area, and shared the list Thursday (September 16). Here’s a list of 10 of the best pumpkin patches to visit in the area:

  1. Bengtson's Pumpkin Fest
  2. Puckerville Farms
  3. Crosswind Farms
  4. Johansen Farms
  5. Kregel's Pumpkin Patch
  6. Siegels Cottonwood Farm
  7. Jack's Pumpkin Pop-Up
  8. Elzinga Farm & Greenhouse
  9. Settlers Pond Shelter
  10. Konow's Corn Maze

If apple cider is up your alley, there’s plenty of orchards in the Chicago area, too. Patch also mapped out apple orchards in McHenry County, Lake County, Kane County, Kendall County, DeKalb County and Will County. Plus, there are a few orchards over the state line into Indiana and Wisconsin. Patch pointed out:

“Just remember: Under Gov. J.B. Pritzker's mandate, masks are required indoors, regardless of vaccination status. Check with each farm to know what to expect before your visit.”

Check out the list here.

If you’re still looking for fun ways to enjoy the season, there are tons of options around the Windy City. Chicago offers haunted ghost tours, corn mazes and more.
