Reba McEntire took to Twitter to share her thanks to the first responders who helped rescue her from a crumbling building in Atoka, Oklahoma on Wednesday (September 15). The 100-year-old building's staircases began to collapse while McEntire was touring the historical location, but no serious injuries occurred.

"While my team and I were in Atoka, OK yesterday checking out an old historical building, a staircase collapsed," McEntire shared on her Twitter account. "Thankfully, no one was seriously injured. We were safely evacuated from the building thanks to the quick response from the Atoka fire and police departments."

The country star had been on the second floor of the building when the collapse began, trapping them there until first responders arrived to help the group climb out of the building on a ladder. One person had minor injuries from the event and was taken to a hospital in the neighboring town, Durant, to be treated.

According to Atoka Emergency Management Director Travis Mullins, the staircase likely collapsed due to ongoing renovations. He had told the local news station News 12 KXII that the stairway from the second to third story collapsed, then falling onto the staircase from the first to the second floor, leaving everyone trapped inside.

McEntire had been touring the building for a future project, however further details have not yet been revealed.

"We were just touring the building and the stairwell was weak, it seemed weak," Coby Scherrill, who had been touring the building with McEntire, said to local news station News 12 KXII following the collapse. "But we did not realize how weak it was until several people had gone down it, and then we heard the crash and saw the stairs fall."
