Police are on the lookout for a would-be robber whose attempted crime was cut short when the power went out at the gas station he was trying to rob.

It happened around 4:30 a.m. on Friday (September 17).

The suspect reportedly donned covering over his face and a pair of gloves when he approached the clerk. The power went out and the man wielded a knife as he demanded cash; however, the power outage barred anyone from being able to open the register. The masked suspect fled the store empty-handed, Lincoln-based KLKN-TV reported Friday.

Anyone with information should call the Lincoln Police Department at 402-441-6000, or call Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600. Law enforcement officials are still investigating the attempted robbery.
