Northeast Ohio police officers confiscated a haunted house actor’s knife after the actor stabbed a young boy with it.

The accident happened 7 Floors of Hell at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds earlier this month, according to Cleveland’s WOIO.

The actor, 22, of Middleburg Heights, reportedly brought a Bowie-style knife from home rather than using one of the fake weapons provided by the haunted house. As the Brook Park boy, 11, walked through the haunted house, the actor began stabbing the ground near his feet. That’s when the Bowie-style knife sliced through the boy’s Croc-style shoe and cut his toe. Staff provided first aid before police arrived, and the boy’s toe was slightly bleeding at that point, cleveland.com reports. The news outlet also notes that the boy’s mother met him at the fairgrounds after hearing about the incident, but the boy declined to go to the hospital or receive further treatment.

Berea police took the actor’s knife and would return it as long as the actor does not face charges, according to cleveland.com.

Police say the actor “using the knife was not a good idea and that the injury was an accident and he had no intention of hurting anyone with it.”
