Local authorities in Portland found eight abandoned vehicles recently as part of a focused mission, KATU reports.
Portland Police Bureau's North Precinct tweeted about the discovery Wednesday (September 29). On September 23, officers say they discovered the stolen cars along Marine Drive and Airport Way. Officials also towed eight more cars and tagged another 13 for 72-hour notice, they added.
This news comes after authorities found over a dozen stolen vehicles across the Portland metro area earlier this month. Reporters say the Rose City is one of the top cities for vehicle thefts, with 740 vehicles reported stolen in July alone.

The bureau recently acknowledged they don't have the resources to keep up with the hundreds of reported thefts.
“We do care. We are saturated right now with calls for service, and unfortunately extreme amounts of violent crime, person or person crimes, like shootings homicides, and our traffic fatalities,” Captain Tina Jones said.
No word on if the vehicles will be returned to their owners.
