Here's How Nicki Minaj Feels About Jesy Nelson's Black Fishing Accusations

Nicki Minaj is never one to keep mum on how she feels about a situation.

Just days after her collaboration with Jesy Nelson dropped, entitled "Boyz", the Head Barb took to social media to defend the former Little Mix band member amid allegations of the young star Black Fishing. Fans called out the 30-year old star for rocking a darker tan, braided hair and wearing outfits that are typically associated with Black and Hip Hop culture. One fan tweeted,

"Up until last week I thought Jesy Nelson was black… she needs to put the fake tan down ASAP and give the hair a rest."

However, Nicki Minaj had a different tone when it came to Jesy's black fishing accusations. On Monday, the "Yikes" rapper hopped on an Instagram Live with Jesy and defended the young star. Nicki even addressed claims that Little Mix's Leigh-Anne Pinnock had accused Nelson of appropriating black culture, stating:

"If I was rocking with you for 10 years and there was something so horrible about you and I kept on doing business with you and getting money with you for 10 years and then as soon as we part ways I'm texting people telling them to bring s*** up negative about you. Immediately that person has to wear a big red clown nose and big clown boots because you're a big ****** clown."

But her rant didn't stop there. Nicki continued on, claiming that no one is exempt from such allegations, including her. She shared:

There's a lot of women out here in the United States that tan, get bigger lips. I wear straight blonde hair when I want to. Don't wait a decade after you've made millions with the person [to call them out]."

Jesy went on to say her peace, laughing at Nicki Minaj calling out her former bandmates. She chimed in:

"My intention is never to offend people of colour with this video and my song. When I was in the video with [Nicki], I didn't even have any fake tan on. I'd been in Antigua prior to that for three weeks. I'm just really lucky that as a white girl, when I'm in the sun I tan so dark.My hair's naturally curly, I've always had curly hair. I wanted t o get a wig that emulated the same texture as my hair, I genuinely didn't think I was doing anything wrong."

Nelson, who left Litte Mix to embark on her solo journey in December 2020, says she had only started to be accused of Blackfishing since leaving the group. However, she claims she "love Black culture and Black music" and that she's not mimicking anyone else's culture when she dons a tan and curly hair --- she is simply "going back to my original look."
