Several parts throughout the Bay Area were treated to light showers and wet road conditions on Thursday, October 21.

But this isn't the end of the rain, according to KRON4. The Bay Area will be seeing a second storm system very soon.

Late into Thursday night, the second storm system will bring what the National Weather Service (NWS) calls "beneficial rain" to the majority of the Bay Area.

Rainfall is expected to start around 8:00 P.M. tonight and the storm will continue into Friday morning (October 22).

This upcoming round of showers is anticipated to bring another 1 to 3 inches of rainfall to the North Bay Mountains, according to KRON4 meterorlogist John Shrable.

The storm will also drop temperatures and possibly bring more snow to Lake Tahoe.

After some morning showers, the Bay Area is expected to see a brief dry period later on Friday. However, the region isn't done with rain quite yet.

According to the NWS forecast, this is all leading to an "atmospheric river" predicted to hit early next week.

Light rain is expected to fall throughout the weekend before the predicted atmospheric river hits early next week, reports KRON4.

Bay Area residents should expect moderate to heavy rain on Sunday, October 24, into Monday, October 25.

By the end of these storms, San Francisco could see up to 5 inches of total rainfall.
