Paul McCartney may have signed his final autograph.

The former Beatle has taken a page out of Ringo Starr's book, telling Reader's Digest in a recent interview that the autograph tradition always struck him as "a bit strange."

"'Here, can I write your name down on the back of this till receipt please?' Macca demonstrated. "Why? We both know who I am."

McCartney says he would rather have a conversation than waste time scribbling his name over and over again or posing for photos.

"What you've usually got is a ropey photo with a poor background and me looking a bit miserable," he continued. "Let's chat, let's exchange stories."

Ringo announced back in 2008 that after decades of trying to accommodate fan requests as much as possible, he could no longer justify spending time signing items for fans. He noted in the same statement that he noticed many autographed items going up for sale after he'd signed them.

“I’m warning you with peace and love I have too much to do," Ringo said. "So no more fan mail, thank you, thank you, and no objects to be signed, Nothing. Anyway, peace, love, peace, of love.”
