Nikki Sixx Announces Children's Book As He Notches Fourth NYT Bestseller

Nikki Sixx is taking a break from raw, unflinching reflections on the most tumultuous years of his life to write a children's book about diversity with his wife Courtney Sixx.

The Mötley Crüe bassist recently earned his fourth New York Times bestseller with his latest memoir, The First 21: How I Became Nikki Sixx, a tome that focuses specifically on his life up to age 21.

Nikki's previous bestsellers are The Heroin Diaries, This Is Gonna Hurt and of course the Mötley Crüe band biography The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band.

Speaking recently with Tim Louie of The Aquarian Weekly, Nikki revealed that his next book will be considerably more appropriate for kids than his previous writing.

"Me and my wife are working on a book about this little girl who goes to all of these countries in her imagination," Nikki said. "She goes to Africa and she has this little African boy or girl teaching her about that culture, or she goes to England, and then she goes to Wyoming and learns about horses, then goes to Japan and learns about the food and the culture and the language. That is a great idea and that will come out next year."

While the pandemic has caused no shortage of upheaval, Nikki says he did his best to utilize the isolation as a time for him to take on projects like The First 21 and, most importantly, create memories at home with his family.

The Sixx family left Los Angeles for Wyoming early on in the pandemic shutdowns. Nikki says the vast property and the privacy it offered left him feeling more creative as soon as they arrived.

He elaborated in a subsequent interview with Germany's Radio Bob!, talking about how important it is for children to learn about diversity from their parents.

"It really bothered me how everybody was so divided [in recent years]," Nikki said. "So I figure reading to children is a way to teach them about culture, food, language, differences and how that isn't a real issue. It's a positive."
