Erykah Badu Lashes Out at Age Critics after Engagement Announcement

- Erykah Badu is firing back after enduring backlash over her announcement that she’s engaged to a man who’s 23 years her junior.
- In a Twitter post, Badu writes, “Why every time there is an article about a woman over 30 the journalists mentions the age? ‘Erykah Badu, 50, does the splits’ … ‘Erykah Badu 50, had feelings.’ It ain’t my birthday, or death day. So, what does this MEAN?”
- Over the weekend, Badu announced her engagement to JaRon, who – at 27 years old – is 23 years younger than Badu. He’s also just five years older than Badu's eldest son, Seven.
