As Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi continues to add to his stockpile of righteous riffs, he indicates the likelihood of another solo album is increasing.

In a conversation with Planet Rock, surrounding his "Scent of Dark" single, Iommi casually mentioned that he has 400-500 song ideas saved in memos on his phone.

The Hand of Doom has often discussed making a solo album in the years since Black Sabbath's farewell tour. He says he started laying down some of the record in early-2020, but that process was soon interrupted.

"It's getting around to doing it — that's the thing," Iommi said. "The pandemic put a bit of a block on it, really. And I was working it out and the engineer was coming over and we were getting through some things. But then when [the pandemic] happened and you couldn't have anybody in the house or in the studio, it put the kibosh on that for a bit. And then I started getting involved in other stuff. And it's just kicking back on again. I've gotta get back into getting these things down properly."

Iommi did find a home for some of his riffs in a song with Ozzy Osbourne for Ozzy's forthcoming thirteenth solo album.
