Rain and mountain snow is expected just in time for Christmas, according to the National Weather Service.
“Low pressure off the California coast, and a ridge over the Southwest will steer Pacific moisture over SoCal this week,” the weather service said. “Expect some rain by Thursday…and more rain and snow over the Christmas weekend into early next week.”
Prior to this week, many local areas dropped into the 30s overnight including Del Mar and Solana Beach.
A frost advisory was issued from 10:00 P.M. Sunday to 8:00 A.M. Monday for San Diego County deserts.
According to the Times of San Diego, widespread rain and high elevation show should arrive by Thursday, December 23.
Forecasters expect showers and cooler weather to linger for the rest of the holiday weekend in a persistent stormy pattern.
The weather service said the county should see 1 to 3 inches by late Friday, December 24, with the mountains getting heavier amounts.
