Webster County Correctional Officer Charged with Helping Inmate Escape

(Fort Dodge, Iowa) -- The Webster County Sheriff's Office says a correctional officer helped an inmate escape from jail earlier this month.

Sheriff Luke Fleener says Michelle Valenti helped inmate Jordan Mefferd escape from the Webster County Jail on December 12th.Valenti was employed as a correctional officer at that time. Mefferd's escape was short-lived. He was taken back into custody a few hours later.

Valenti is now facing multiple charges for her role in the escape.
