Man Attacked By Tiger At Florida Zoo

A Florida man was seriously injured after being bitten by a tiger at the Naples Zoo.

• The victim, 26-year-old River Rosenquist, was bit in the arm after entering a restricted area and reaching inside the enclosure.  Officers were forced to shoot the tiger in order to free the victim, who is currently hospitalized.
• Rosenquist worked for a cleaning service hired by the zoo, but was not authorized to clean or enter animal enclosures. Officers believe he was likely petting or feeding the animal.
• The tiger, an 8-year-old Malayan named Eko, had joined the zoo in February 2020.
• Why are people so tempted to get close to dangerous animals like lions or tigers? Should the zoo be held liable even though the victim wasn't supposed to go near the animals?
