Man Rescued From Dewitt Hotel Room Fire

Dewitt, N.Y. - A man was injured in a Dewitt Motel fire.

The fire broke out in one of the rooms at the Red Roof Inn on Thompson Road shortly before 7 Thursday morning.

Reports say first responders had trouble entering the room as the bed, mattress and other items were blocking them.

Firefighters entered through a window and rescued a 29 year old man and a cat.

The man was taken to the hospital for minor burns and smoke inhalation. He is in stable condition.

The cat was taken to the SPCA.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation
