Life expectancy is the average period that a person is expected to live. The World Health Organization (WHO) claims that the global life expectancy was 74.2 for women and 69.8 for men.

While some factors that affect life expectancy are out of our control like genetics and gender, the other factors are based on lifestyle choices like where you live.

The most recent life expectancy reports by state show that California has one of the highest life expectancies in the country.

According to a report on smoking by 24/7 Wall St, California has the second-highest life expectancy at birth in the U.S. They also point out that an estimated 11.5% of the 18 and older population in the state are smokers, which is the second-lowest smoking rate in the country.
