ESPN's Stephen A. Smith Almost Died Of Covid
January 18, 2022
Stephen A Smith of ESPN, and a sports columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer in the 1990's, says his battle with COVID-19 included pneumonia in both his lungs as well as a 103-degree fever "every night". Things got so bad, he wondered if he was going to die.
The ESPN personality returned to "First Take" this week after being away to fight the virus the past several weeks, and on Monday he talked about his bout with corona, and he revealed it was pure hell.
Smith said he had night sweats, fevers, headaches and a cough, and it was all so awful, he was in the hospital over New Year's Day. He said he feels lucky he made it because he really didn't know if he would 3 weeks ago. Doctors told him if he hadn’t been vaccinated, he likely would have died.
Smith was in good spirits in his return to TV, as he trolled the daylight out of the Dallas Cowboys relentlessly for their playoff loss, dissing them good. The sportscaster added that he's now testing negative for the virus and is on his way to getting back to 100 percent.
