Can You Guess California’s Favorite Valentine’s Day Candy?

Valentine's Day-themed candy is easily one of the best parts of the holiday. According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), Valentine's Day spending is expected to reach $23.9 billion in 2022 and Americans are reportedly planning to spend a large amount of that on sweets.

A survey commissioned by the NRF found that 56 percent of Americans consider candy to be the most essential gift on Valentine's Day, followed by cards and flowers.

While American's agree that candy on Valentine's Day is the best, we are divided on the type of candy we buy. A new study from CandyStore.com determined the most popular Valentine's Day candies in every state by using 14 years of sales data from its own retail platform and from "industry partners."

So which Valentine's Day candies do Californians prefer? According to the study, it's Conversation Hearts. These classic candies were also the favorite of 12 other states.

But the most popular candy overall is heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, which were the favorite purchase of 17 states.
