A Beatles fan who is preparing to open up a record shop in the U.K. says his wife recently bit into a good omen for their venture.

Mark Thorne tells The Sun that he first became obsessed with the Fab Four as a teenager, so when he saw his wife's apple core during a recent lunch, he immediately recognized the face of one of the late-band members inside.

"Lottie just said, 'The core of my apple look exactly like George Harrison,'" Thorne recalled. "I just said 'Stop eating the apple.' I had a look and said, 'Oh my God, it's George.'"

Harrison, in particular, has a special place in Mark and Lottie's hearts. Their wedding invitations were designed to look like the 7-inch single of Harrison's classic song "My Sweet Lord." The design even included the original record's green apple motif.

The Beatles' multimedia conglomerate, Apple Records, was founded in 1968.

Mark adds that he has a tattoo of Lottie's name in the Beatles' font and the couple's eldest daughter's middle name is McCartney. He says he wouldn't be opening a record store at all were it not for the Beatles.

The store, Thorne Records, will open this month in Edinburgh's Bruntsfield, specializing in vinyl from the '50s through to the present.

Mark says the response online to Lottie's apple core has made him feel that much more confident that the store will be a success.
