A house in the middle of a Northern California forest on the market is gaining attention for what it's made out of. The round home in the small town of Benbow was built using hay bales and is listed for $375,000.

“It has a ton of character and is really beautiful. We see tons of your typical three-bedroom homes, but this has some personality to it,” the listing agent, Somer Wallan with Madrone Realty told SFGATE. She added that when you drive up to the property, you will encounter a spectacular view of the round home sitting in the middle of giant oak trees.

According to SFGATE, the woman who recently passed away built the home in 1997 from hay and stucco using a technique known as straw-bale construction. Inside the house, it's apparent that it's constructed from hay bales according to Wallan.

"It doesn’t look like it from the outside,” she said, adding that "It holds heat and cold well,” and provides a comfortable living temperature that adjusts to the summer and winter months.

The home has many quirky details added by the owner, who is an artist, as well as custom countertops and woodwork. According to Wallan, some repairs are required including cracking in the bathroom and additional support needed around the bathtub.
