Queen is celebrating a full decade with Adam Lambert, as its yearlong 'Queen the Greatest' series wraps up this month.
Episode 49, which you can enjoy via the player above, celebrates how Lambert's partnership with Brian May and Roger Taylor enabled them to take Queen back on the road and give new generations of fans the live revelry of a Queen show.
"It's the most brilliant, symbiotic relationship you could dream of because, you know, one might say, ‘Oh, well, Adam, you know, if it weren't for you, they wouldn't be doing these venues with these countries,’ but it's the same for me," Lambert says. "If it weren't for them, I wouldn't be playing arenas all around the world, either.”
Lambert adds that the sense of magic still hasn't worn off. He's a Queen fan, first and foremost, and he loves that May and Taylor are still touring and celebrating the music they helped create.
And the feeling is mutual.
Taylor and May find a lot of joy in touring with Lambert, because they've sort of picked up where they left off with the band's original unit.
The pair have nothing but compliments for the care with which Lambert interprets their songs, and they still find themselves shaking their heads in disbelief at what Lambert is able to do as a performer and as a vocalist.
“He's still astounding, the lengths he can push things to is extraordinary," May says. "Sometimes I'm standing right here playing ‘Who Wants To Live Forever,’ and he's there doing his thing. And when he goes into this stratospheric thing in the middle, I very often go, ‘Wow.’”
