Former WWE Champion Big E gave a positive update Saturday (March 12) morning hours after revealing he'd suffered a broken neck during the live broadcast of SmackDown in Birmingham, Alabama Friday (March 11) night.
"I got some really good news, all things considered," Big E said in a video shared from his hospital bed on his verified Twitter account. "The C1 and C6 are indeed fractured, not displacement, though, which is a very good thing and I don't have any damage to my spinal cord, no ligament damage and no surgery, which I'm very thankful for."
On Friday, Big E, whose real name is Ettore Ewen, appeared to land headfirst after being suplexed on the mat outside the ring and was stretchered backstage during the live broadcast.

Went to see E and he’s in good spirits. Hell of a guy and beyond proud to call him my brother.

Big E once again expressed his gratitude for the University of Birmingham hospital staff and all the colleagues and fans who reached out to him following his injury on Saturday.
"It's meant a ton to me that so many of you have been so kind and reached out, stopped in to see me, texted me. I feel like I sound like a broken record but I am very grateful and I'mma be alright. It's a blessing."
