A California jewelry store was targeted in a smash and grab with sledgehammers. The hooded suspects were caught on video robbing the store in broad daylight with people around. According to Fox News, they managed to get away with $5 million in merchandise.
The owner of the Beverly Hills jewelry store, Peter Sedghi, spoke to the New York Post about the scary incident. "I told my employee, ‘Get on the floor.' As soon as I heard what I thought were gunshots finally stop, I grabbed my gun. First, I made sure my employees were OK. I then went outside, but they were already gone."
Fox News reports that at least five suspects wearing face masks used sledgehammers to smash the glass of Luxury Jewels at around 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 22. Sedghi said it took them about eight to 10 wings to finally break the thick glass.
He estimates they stole between $3 and $5 million and believes they knew which high-end items to steal. "We sell high-end jewelry and watches so they took big diamonds, big necklaces, Rolexes, Patek Philippe … they knew exactly what to take," Sedghi told the New York Post. "Thank God, no one was hurt."
Police are currently working on identifying the suspects.
