Nationally, men make more than women on average, but that's not the case in several metropolitan areas. New data shows young women in nearly two dozen cities make more money than young men and one of those cities is San Diego. The data was released by Pew Research Center and found that San Diego ranks six among the top ten areas where young women earn more than young men.
Women in San Diego make on average nearly $2,000 more than men. Alan Gin, a professor of Business at the University of San Diego, said the reason women under 30 are making more money is because of education.
"If you look at areas where women outpace men, it’s the big growth areas like New York, Los Angeles you got high tech, you got finance, and those require high levels of education," Gin told CBS8. "Women are attending college at greater rates than men, they’re getting education and good jobs."
