An unfortunate scene unfolded in Santa Rosa early Thursday morning (April 14) when a man violently crashed his car into a local coffee shop. A community alert from the Santa Rosa Police Department explained that dispatch received a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a building and a man was trapped inside the vehicle.

Officers and medical personnel arrived at the Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii shop at 140 Stony Point Road where they found the car had crashed through the storefront. Santa Rosa Fire personnel used hydraulic tools to extract the driver and he was transported to a local hospital for his injuries.

According to police, the driver was headed westbound on West 9th Street at a high rate of speed. He failed to navigate a curve in the road and drove over a grass berm and continued through the parking lot. The vehicle then struck a tree, causing it to spin out of control and crash into the glass storefront. The driver was identified as 21-year-old Ronal Chuc Comez of Santa Rosa. Based on the investigation Chuc Comez was arrested for driving under the influence.

The coffee shop gave customers a humourous update on the unfortunate accident, writing in a Facebook post "Our Stony Point location will be cleaning up after someone decided to park in our store at 2:30am."
