Glenn Danzig believes his career as a touring artist might be coming to an end after this month, and he's uncertain how much more new music he has to make.
The frontman is currently on the road with Cradle of Filth and Crobot in a U.S. tour that wraps up May 19.
"I don't think I'm going to tour anymore," the 66-year-old told Revolver in a new interview. "I'm just going to fly out to a show here or there. I'll maybe be down to do some one-offs. But I just don't see myself getting on a tour bus anymore... Yeah. I think I'm done."
He added that as he gets more busy making films, he's less inclined to add to his music catalog. Danzig's last album of original material, Black Laden Crown, came out in 2017.
"I write songs here and there," he said. "Lately, I seem to be writing more soundtrack stuff. I don't know that I'm ever going to do another album again. I might do an EP or I might just record some songs and put them out for free on the Internet. We'll see. it could be that right now I'm just not interested, and then a month from now I'll be in the studio. It depends. I've got to be excited about working in order to go do it. And right now I'm not that excited."
Asked why he feels less inspired to make new music, Danzig said that after years in the music business, "it takes a little longer" for him to get excited about new ideas — the state of the industry isn't helping either.
"Nobody really buys music anymore," he added. "I still go in a real studio to record so I'm not some kid in my living room doing my record."
He conceded that he's been heartened by the positive responses to his last two albums, which is why he can envision making an EP.
Recent years have found the former Misfits frontman focusing on film projects, like 2019's Verotika and last year's Death Rider in the House of Vampires.
