After closing one of the ugliest chapters of his private life, Johnny Depp is getting back to music with one of his most eyebrow-raising projects to date: an album of collaborations with British guitar god Jeff Beck.

Depp and Beck reportedly met in 2016 and quickly bonded over their mutual love of cars and guitars. As they spent more time together, Beck came to realize that Depp's unprecedented range as an actor also extended into music, from guitar playing to songwriting.

Beck suggested the pair make an album together, and in 2019 the two began sessions for their forthcoming full-length, 18, set for release on July 15.

The LP includes several of Depp's original songs alongside an eclectic mix of covers.

You can listen to the album's dramatic first single, "This Is A Song For Miss Hedy Lamarr," via the player above.

In a statement, Depp called Beck's collaboration an "extraordinary honor." While Beck applauded Depp's artistry.

"I haven't had a creative partner like him for ages," said the guitarist. "He was a major force on this record. I just hope people will take him seriously as a musician because it's a hard thing for some people to accept that Johnny Depp can sing rock and roll."

Beck is going on tour in Europe this summer and bringing Depp out with him as a special guest. The tour launches June 19 and wraps up in Paris in late-July. Get all the tour dates here.
