Neil's autocue can be seen from the side of the stage in new fan-shot videos from Crüe's recent St. Louis, Missouri, concert.
Using a teleprompter as a crutch is far from the scandal some YouTube commenters are making it out to be. When you consider the fact that other rock icons like Ozzy Osbourne and Rob Halford have used teleprompters for years during live shows, Neil is actually in good company.
After all, referring to a screen when you lose your place is a much better look than forgetting the words to "Dr. Feelgood" or "Home Sweet Home."
Halford defended his use of the prompter some years ago after Bruce Dickinson called the mechanism "ludicrous."
"I do so many things," Halford said. "I can't remember [every lyric]. I wish I was like my mate Bruce Dickinson and could do everything, but I need that safety blanket."
Neil was the subject of much conjecture leading up to the eventual launch of the 'Stadium Tour,' as fans worried about his vocal stamina and physical fitness.
To the frontman's credit, however, he has clearly slimmed down since last year and has sounded stronger during the recent shows than he has in years.
