Just as 'Weird' Al Yankovic has made a career out of spoofing popular songs, his "biopic" seems determined to play a lot of the same notes of a conventional rock movie.

Based on the latest trailer for Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, there wasn't much from Yankovic's real life that made it into the plot of the film, probably the better choice for a feature-length comedy.

The film's star Daniel Radcliffe plays Al like a prototypical tortured artist. He drinks heavily, he strikes up a toxic romance with Madonna (Evan Rachel Wood), he writes iconic songs and he perseveres despite disapprovals from his parents and doubts from his bandmates.

Eventually, Al finds his way and chooses to inspire others to embrace their true selves.

"In front of all the billions of people watching all around the world right now, all I want to say is be as weird as you want to be," Yankovic says in a clip while accepting an award. "You will never find true happiness until you can truly accept who you are."

The real 'Weird' Al even makes a cameo in the film as a record executive. You can spot him at the beginning of the trailer.

Radcliffe said this spring that the Weird movie was "one of the most fun things" he's done in his career. He was so flattered to get the part that he even learned to play the accordion for the role.

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story arrives on Roku September 8.
