Richland County Land Bank Lists Reasons For Westinghouse Bid Choice

September 6, 2022

The Richland County Land Bank this week responded to letter from a Michigan company, who was unhappy they were not awarded their $2.7 million bid to demolish and clean up the former Westinghouse Property in Mansfield.

RichlandSource.com reports, the Land Bank letter to Dore and Associates listed 5 points, which said the company was incorrect when it stated the contract was awarded to a local company with far less qualifications than 3 national contractors. Plus, the Land Bank said Dore and Associates estimated their bid on 24,000 square feet of plaster instead of the specified 130,000 square feet.

The $3.9 million bid was awarded to a Crestline company, R& D Excavating, which the land bank says has an excellent and trusted record, approval is still needed from the Ohio Department of Development.
