The Reds scored a total of one run in being swept by the Pirates, 6-1 and 1-0.

For the second time since Saturday the Reds were held to one hit in a game.

Reds batters went a combined on the day. 5 for 31 in Game 1 and 1 for 27 in Game 2.......combined 6 for 58.

The game was scoreless until the Pirates pushed across a run in the Top of the 7th inning vs reliever Ian Gibaut.

Opener: Fernando Cruz took the role as opener, making his 1st ML start. He retired all five batters in 1.2 scoreless innings.

Hitless: The Pirates didn't record their first hit until Ben Gamel's leadoff single to start the 5th inning.

Adding to the record: Espinal is the 65th player and 38th pitcher to appear in a game for the Reds, extending both single-season franchise records.

Debut: Pirates 23-year old RHP Luis Ortiz was really good in his ML debut...5.2 IN, 1 H, 0 R.

Dealing Bucs: Pirates Game 1 SP Johan Oviedo 5 IN, 1 H, 0 R. So the Pirates SP combined for 10.2 IN, 2 H, 0 R in the doubleheader.
