Armed Man On The Loose In Storm Drain Near Indiana University, Police Warn

An armed man has entered a storm drain near Indiana University's campus on Tuesday (September 20) afternoon, Bloomington police warns.
The man entered the storm drain near 1st Street and Walnut Street, according to WGNTV. The public is urged to avoid the area between 1st Street to 3rd Street and Morton Street to Lincoln Street although no shots have been fired.
The Bloomington Police Department is currently on the hunt for the armed man in the underground sewer system. Campus police are also placed near Dunn Meadow at Indiana Avenue near the drain's exit.
Indiana University students at Franklin Hall are being evacuated by campus police. Franklin Hall is remain closed until Wednesday, September 21, police said.
Campus police is also refuting erroneous claims that there is an active shooter on the IU Bloomington campus. "This matter involves a subject off-campus who has barricaded himself in the city storm system," police said. Officials said the "campus community is safe."
