Jane's Addiction has canceled five upcoming shows with Smashing Pumpkins due to an injury frontman Perry Farrell sustained last week.

In a statement Monday, Farrell explained that he got hurt last Wednesday after the tour's stop at Madison Square Garden. He says he's been working with a physical therapist but likely won't be healthy enough to perform again until this weekend.

The affected shows included gigs in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Toronto, plus upcoming shows in Montreal and Quebec City.

"I am filled with sadness and frustration to have to announce this, but I have to mend in order to continue the tour and get back on stage," the singer writes. "Thank you for understanding."

Farrell is confident he will be back on Saturday, October 29, in Cleveland. Read his statement below:

The band announced late Friday afternoon that it would not be performing in Philly "due to physical injury." Updates were scarce over the weekend until Farrell broke his silence Monday evening.

Jane's Addiction is already down one band member on the tour. Guitarist Dave Navarro revealed this past spring that he was dealing with long COVID, months after being infected with the virus in December.

Jane's Addiction canceled some festival dates over the summer due to Navarro's illness. Then the guitarist explained in September that he was still not well enough to tour, but his band would go on with Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen in his stead.
