Three people are sickened by a CO2 leak at LAX, and one person is critically ill.

  • Four people were taken to local hospitals on Monday after they were overcome by carbon dioxide at LAX Airport, authorities say.
  • The affected people, all employees of the Los Angeles airport, were in or near a utility room where the C02 leak was later traced back to, the L.A. Fire Department reports. One of the four people, a man in his 50s, was found with no pulse, authorities say. He was revived and is currently in "grave condition," according to the fire department.
  • The leak, which was discovered shortly after 7 a.m., prompted authorities to clear some 100 people from LAX's Terminal 8, per the LAFD. They were all screened for CO2 poisoning in Terminal 7 before they were allowed to resume their travels, a spokesman says. The cause of the leak is under investigation, LAX officials say.
