Grab your jackets and get the hot chocolate ready, Texas. This weekend's gonna be a doozy.

Temperatures are expected to dip into the upper 20s and low 30s as a cold front rolls into town Saturday (November 12) morning, according to NBC DFW. Freeze warnings have been put in place for parts of North Texas. This weekend is expected to be sunny, but temperatures will remain cold.

So cold, in fact, that it'll be colder in the Lone Star State than it will be in Alaska. Saturday's forecast in Dallas calls for a low of 32 degrees, while Anchorage will see a low of 35 degrees.

Temperatures for this time of the year are about 10 to 20 degrees below normal in Texas (and the rest of the country), the news outlet reports. The jet stream bringing these cold temps, though, is bringing above-normal temperatures in Alaska. Here's why, per NBC DFW:

"The pattern creates a ridge of high pressure over the Pacific Ocean, arching north into Alaska. This allows milder maritime air from the Pacific to be drawn north into Alaska producing above-normal temperatures.
"At the same time, the jet stream dives south through Canada and the United States forming a trough. This pulls in pretty cold air from Canada and even the North Pole into the U.S. leading to below-normal temperatures."

This pattern is likely to stick around into Thanksgiving week.
