The Pantera tribute show took the stage last night in Santiago, Chile, down to just one member of the original band, as bassist Rex Brown sat out due to "health problems."
The December 11 Knotfest performance was just the fourth show for the tribute tour, which features former Pantera members Brown and vocalist Phil Anselmo alongside guitarist Zakk Wylde and drummer Charlie Benante taking over for the late-Abbott brothers Darrell and Vinnie Paul, respectively.
In Brown's stead, the band recruited Cattle Decapitation bassist Derek Engemann, who also plays in one of Anselmo's solo projects.
Benante shared a video of the Rex-less Chile performance, writing that the show was "on fire. We missed Rex tonight, get better buddy. Damn it was a hot one!"
The highly-anticipated Pantera celebration shows began Dec. 2 in Mexico. The group has shows scheduled in South America through Dec. 18. It will get back on the road in Europe next spring.
It's unclear if Brown is expected to rejoin the tour this month. The next show is scheduled for tonight (Dec. 12).
