Hunter Hayes debuted a music video that’s unlike any other one he’s filmed before, proving that he’s the ultimate one-man band. The country singer-songwriter premiered his music video to “Sober,” one of the latest songs Hayes has shared from his highly-anticipated next album. The video features Hayes playing every instrument, joining his dream of “always wanting to be in a band” with “planning my new music video.”

“You’ll tell me that I’m worth it/ Beg me to stay over/ Hold me like you want it/ Kiss me when you’re sober/ You say it’s complicated/ When I said I wanted closure/ But all I really want is you to kiss me when you’re sober/ Kiss me when you’re sober/ Kiss me sober”

“Sober” was the first of two music videos to debut, between that song and “Someone Will,” which also released on Wednesday (January 18). Hayes announced earlier this month that he would release the two new songs from Red Sky, joining a few other previously-released tracks: “Missing You,” “Friend” and “Could’ve Been You.”

Hayes conducted a live-streamed Q&A leading up to the premiere of the “Sober” music video on Wednesday, sharing with his fans that the video is “kind of a reference” to one of the videos he released earlier in his career, weighing in on whether he’d ever perform in the Metaverse, and revealing that he knows when his album will be available for preorder (though he couldn’t announce it yet), among other details.
