Hunter Hayes offered a way to help his single friends as Valentine’s Day approaches on Tuesday (February 14). Hayes took to his social media channels to kickstart a list of song ideas for a playlist to help get singles through the holiday dedicated to romantic relationships, revealing his three song choices and inviting his followers to add their own ideas in the comments.

“This is for all of my single friends. I want to create a playlist around the false sense of loneliness that Valentine’s Day gives us. So, what are your suggestions?” Hayes said, sharing a heartfelt message before listing three song’s he’d add to a playlist. “I’ll go ahead and go first. I’ve given it a lot of thought and I’ve worked through it quite a lot, and I say ‘false’ because, you know, even if you’re physically alone where you are, chances are, someone out there in the world is probably feeling something similar to what you’re feeling. Chances are, your person is probably feeling what you’re feeling, and hoping the’ll find you. So, keep that in mind.”

Hayes said his first three songs would be ‘“Soon or Never,” by The Punch Brothers, “Ladders and Parachutes,” by Lori McKenna, and “Church,” by Coldplay. Instagram users dropped comments with genre-spanning suggestions of their own, including “Somebody” by Reba McEntire, “Alive” by Sia, “Enough for You” by Olivia Rodrigo and more.

Last week, Hayes released the “two most vulnerable songs from Red Sky,” just in time for Valentine’s Day. “Normal” and “Lonely Loves Me” arrived on Thursday (February 9). That same day, Hayes revealed that Red Sky is set to release on April 21. The project is the singer-songwriter’s first fully independent album, and it’s more than three years in the making.

“Hear Me Out - Valentines day (for me) can sometimes create a false sense of loneliness,” Hayes shared on Instagram as he announced the release of “Normal” and “Lonely Loves Me.” “So, I want to release the two most vulnerable songs from Red Sky for anyone who may relate to these songs as a reminder 1-you’re not alone 2-it gets better.”
