The Weeknd is Oscar-nominated - but not for his acting (that was for his single "Earned It" from "Fifty Shades Of Gray"). Perhaps that's going to change, as the superstar musician is branching out into film.
Just announced: a new hush-hush movie project co-written by The Weeknd and director Trey Edward Shults, from an idea the pop star has been working on for some time. "Wednesday" star Jenny Ortega and Academy Award nominee Barry Keoghan ("The Banshees Of Inshirin") are already signed to co-star in the film.
The Weeknd (real name: Abel Tesfaye) will be acting in the project as well - a first for the singer. He's played himself in "Uncut Gems" and is set to star in his HBO project, "The Idol" - but this will be his first feature film. Plot details are being kept secret, but we do know the project is already in production.
