Many users reported having issues accessing Twitter on Monday (March 6). Around 12:15 p.m. ET, DownDetector recorded a large spike in people complaining that Twitter was inaccessible. Within minutes the number of complaints surged to over 8,300 but dropped to under 2,00 about 30 minutes later.
During that time, some users were able to get Twitter to slowly load but were met with the following error message: "Your current API plan does not include access to this endpoint, please see https://developer.twitter.com/en/docs/twitter-api for more information."
Some users also reported getting that message when clicking on links.
Twitter CEO Elon Musk weighed in on the issue a few minutes after his social media platform began experiencing problems.
"This platform is so brittle (sigh). Will be fixed shortly," he wrote in reply to another user.
Just after 1 p.m., Twitter Support tweeted that the issue had been resolved. They previously said the outage was caused by internal changes that had unintended consequences.
"Things should now be working as normal. Thanks for sticking with us!"
