Kimberly Perry and her husband are expecting baby No. 1!

The country star, formerly of The Band Perry, confirmed to PEOPLE on Thursday (April 13) that she and husband Johnny Costello are expecting their first child. She told the outlet: “Johnny and I are overflowing with joy to announce this beautiful bundle of love. This is a brand new season for us — new love, new life, new baby, nothing better!”

“I’m OVERFLOWING WITH JOY to share that Johnny and I are expecting our first baby in late August!!” Perry, 39, added in an Instagram caption as she shared the news on Thursday. “We’re absolutely beside ourselves with happiness and in awe of the Creator’s plan. Building my own family is something I’ve dreamed about for as long as I can remember. As a woman and as an artist, I’ve always felt like I had to make a choice between growing my career and growing life. But YALL - I’m doin’ em both at the SAME TIME!! Here we go! 🤍🤍🫶🫶

“We’ll keep updating with more BB Costello news as we get it,” she added. “Can’t wait to celebrate this new life with all of you and to welcome this little bundle of love to our world.”

Costello wrote in a post of his own: “Yall!!!!! We’ve got some fun fun fun family news!!! WE ARE HAVING A BABY IN AUGUST!! We are so excited to be parents and can’t wait for little Harper Lee to have a sibling!!! 🤍”

The parents-to-be tied the knot in a secret wedding ceremony in 2021. They posted heartwarming tributes to one another as they marked their six-month anniversary.

Perry recently signed a new record deal (Costello posted a tribute to her, writing that “Harper Lee and I are so proud,” as he shared a photo with his dog in one hand and a raised glass in the other), after announcing that The Band Perry would take a hiatus. The trio — which also included Reid Perry and Neil Perry, known for hits like “Better Dig Two,” “If I Die Young,” “DONE” and more — shared in a statement last month that they “have decided to take a creative break as a group and each focus on our individual creative pursuits. During this season we will continue to support each other as artists and family in all we do. Thank you for making our childhood dreams come true!”
