Authorities in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, said that a young boy discovered a live bomb while playing in the woods. The boy told his father, who went to collect the device.

The man loaded it into his car and called the police, who told him to pull over immediately and put the device down. The Chippewa Falls Police Department set up a perimeter and contacted the Marathon County Bomb Squad.

The bomb squad secured the bomb and brought it to the police department's firing range, where it was safely destroyed.

Officials said they did not find evidence of any other bombs in the area but advised local residents they are continuing to search the area around neighboring homes for any information about who placed the bomb in the woods.

Investigators are unsure how long the bomb was in the woods and have asked anybody with information to contact them at 715-720-4189.
