Brothers Osborne dropped a summertime-worthy anthem as the award-winning duo announced details about their forthcoming album on Friday (July 14). “Sun Ain’t Even Gone Down Yet,” off the self-titled project, is available now.
“We like to play music, we like to be serious, but sometimes we like to have fun, too,” Brothers Osborne wrote in an Instagram caption. “We like to drink, too. We like to party on a boat, too. ‘Sun Ain’t Even Gone Down Yet’ is out now. Give it a listen and party with us. It’ll (hopefully) be your new favorite summer song.”
It’s the latest track to release from Brothers Osborne — the duo of John and TJ Osborne — following a few that they debuted earlier this year: “Nobody’s Nobody,” “Might As Well Be Me” and “Rollercoaster (Forever And A Day).” The brothers said on Friday that after holding onto “an air of mystery” throughout their career they’re putting a new spin on their next chapter.
“Our self-titled album will be coming on September 15. We’ve always intentionally had an air of mystery around us, but now we are more ourselves creatively and publicly than we’ve ever been. With this new album and the help of producer [Mike Elizondo], we’re all in. It’s time to lean in to who we are.”
TJ shared, per the duo’s record label, that going “all in” on this next album “reminded me of what it was like when I first started playing music, when it was an outlet for my angst or just a way to have fun.”
John added that “since our last record, we’ve been very forthcoming with who we are. By acknowledging TJ’s personal life and my mental-health struggles, we are more ourselves creatively and publicly than we’ve ever been.”
John and TJ Osborne cowrote every song on the 11-track album, joining forces with powerhouse songwriters Miranda Lambert, Jesse Frasure, Corey Crowder and others. The Maryland-born brothers “are always pushing ourselves, always evolving and not afraid to change,” John said. “But at the end of the day, we are also who we are.”
“This is a defining record at this point in our career, where we needed to put it all on our shoulders,” TJ said. “And we did. Like it was when we were growing up, it’s just John and me.”
