Jason Aldean posted an update for his fans after cutting a performance short because of heat exhaustion and dehydration. It happened during his concert on Saturday night (July 15) in Hartford, Connecticut, only the second show on his ongoing “Highway Desperado Tour.”
Aldean shared a video ơn his social media channels on Sunday (July 16), thanking those who checked in on him after the Hartford show and assuring that he would make it up to the fans who attended the concert the next time he’s in that city.
“I’m doing fine. Just one of those things, man. It was hot, I was playing golf all day yesterday and then got to the show and just, I think it was a combination of dehydration and just heat exhaustion,” Aldean said. “I’m hearing a lot of stuff going around, heat stroke, all this stuff. I don’t think it was quite that serious, but it was pretty intense last night at the show. Anybody that was at the show knows how hot it was.
“I knew it was coming. I was trying to get through as much of the show as I could and eventually it was just like, I knew it wasn’t gonna happen and I was trying to just get off stage and figure out what was going on,” Aldean continued. “So, to everybody that came out to the show last night, thank you guys so much for being there. Obviously, it’s not the way I wanted the show to end. Not what I was hoping for on our first week of the tour by any means. ...Again, I apologize for cutting the show short. But we’ll come back (and) make it up to you, and I’m feeling a lot better so thank you guys for checking in.”
Aldean added that he’d had an IV the night of the Hartford show and another the following day to help with hydration. He pledged to play at the next stoop his tour in Saratoga Springs, New York on Sunday, and to “make the one up to you guys in Hartford, as well.”
The “Highway Desperado Tour” kicked off on Friday (July 14) in Bethel, New York. The nationwide trek includes special guests Mitchell Tenpenny, Corey Kent and Dee Jay Silver.
The Hartford show is rescheduled for July 30, per a press release issued on Monday afternoon. Tickets from Saturdays show will be valid for the new date.
