Caroline Jones hailed Carrie Underwood a “hero” and an inspiration to her for balancing her powerful career as an artist with family life and being a mom. Jones recently opened a show for Underwood in Minnesota, and said she has “really leaned on the examples of women like [Underwood] when choosing to embark in this journey of motherhood.”

Jones announced in late June that she and her husband, Nick Dana, are expecting a child. She was 19 weeks pregnant at the time of the sweet reveal. Underwood and her husband, former NHL star Mike Fisher, have two young sons: Isaiah, 8, and Jacob, 4.

“This is my first time getting to open for Carrie. She’s been a hero of mine for, gosh, as long as I’ve been listening to country music,” Jones shared with the Minnesota crowd. “And now, she’s a huge inspiration to me because I’m having a baby. I’m pregnant… and she was a huge inspiration to me when I was making the decision with my husband, if I could start a family and keep pursuing this dream and following this dream. She’s one of the women who have blazed the trail and done it so beautifully and continued a very relevant and very powerful career while having a family.”

Jones performed a stunning cover of “Do You Think About Me,” which appears on Underwood’s 14-track record that released in 2012, Blown Away. Jones shared her rendition of the deep cut ahead of the show, writing: “If you’re not sitting in your shower practicing [Carrie Underwood] deep cuts the day before you get to open for her, are you even a fan?” Underwood reacted as she retweeted the video: “OMG LOOOOOOVE THIS! ❤️❤️❤️”
